Let’s Prevent Kids From Teasing your New “Kid”
Children’s Book Helps Kids Co-exist Peacefully with Dogs
Can’t We All Get Along?
Anne Hathaway said it herself, “How do I get my dog to get along with Johnny!” Many new parents struggle with the relationships between themselves, their dog and their new baby. It’s important to teach our kids at a young age how to get along with dogs to keep them in a safe place and this statistically reduces the risk of them being put into shelters!
Author Kara Hamilton wrote A New Leash on Life to help families with young children co-exist peacefully with their beloved dogs. The story is told creatively from the dog’s perspective and explains what he/she feels like when a family brings home a baby. The book is based entirely on Kara’s life. First came the dog – a dog she loved dearly and wanted to co-exist peacefully with her then-new baby.
When Kara was stricken with cancer, finishing this book became a goal.
The project has helped her to stay motivated and focused during her treatment. Today this mission has a deeper meaning to her. She is here to show that even with a stage four cancer diagnosis, one can still work towards a dream and fulfill it.

“I hope to give inspiration and hope to those struggling with a cancer diagnosis: It can still be possible to work toward & achieve your goals.”
