From Cover Model to Chemo Chair
Cancer Patient Helps Parents & Kids w/ Release of New Book
Less than 5 years ago, Kara Hamilton had it all. The successful model / actress, who had once graced the cover of Health Magazine, had just given birth to a beautiful baby and was in the process of writing a children’s book to help families with young kids co-exist peacefully with their beloved dogs.
An avid animal lover, Kara was on a mission to help keep domestic pets in the home. Many new parents struggle with the relationships between themselves, their dog and their new baby. It’s important to teach our kids at a young age how to get along with dogs. Keeping pets in a safe place statistically reduces the risk of them being put in shelters!
When Kara was stricken with cancer, finishing this book became a goal.
A New Leash on Life was published this year and Kara is here to show that even with a stage IV cancer diagnosis, one can still work towards a dream & fulfill it.
About the Book:
A New Leash on Life is told creatively from the dog’s perspective and explains what he/she feels like when a family brings home a baby. The book is based entirely on Kara’s life. First came the dog – a dog she loved dearly and wanted to co-exist peacefully with her then-new baby.
**This author supports the work of the Humane Society of the United States.
“I hope to give inspiration and hope to those struggling with a cancer diagnosis. It can still be possible to work toward & achieve your goals.”
In an interview Kara can:
- Help people dealing with cancer find passion for life again by sharing her story
- Demonstrate with dogs & children – LIVE ON THE AIR (Ellen can bring out Augie, Wolf, or Kid)
- Show proper techniques & tricks parents can use to help their babies & fur babies co-exist peacefully
