Fourth Grade Students Give Hope to Hurricane Victims

For families who have lost almost everything due to the Hurricane, a simple letter could mean so much.

Fourth grade students from Continental School in Arizona, led by author and literacy expert Carew Papritz, are delivering messages of hope, along with donations, to the many victims affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Inspired by his own award-winning book The Legacy Letters, a fictional series of letters written by a father who never lived to see his kids, and an ongoing passion to get others to live life to the fullest, Carew sprang into action after learning there was no relief effort from his son’s school.

Personally penned letters written by each of the 64 students in Continental’s three fourth-grade classes will accompany a variety of donations such as clothing, shoes, books and toys to local Houston schools. Source

“The kids are learning what it means to bring empathy and hope to others through their own words, and why it’s important to do so,” Carew said. “I did this with the Cuban book signing this last spring, and the kids loved it. We are not just giving items, we are giving hope.”

Carew Papritz, also known as The Cowboy Philosopher, is the author of the multi-award winning book The Legacy Letters. Though fictional, The Legacy Letters has won acclaim as a life lessons book for all generations, gaining the distinction of being the only book in publishing history to win awards in both fiction and non-fiction categories. A Renaissance Man in an age that lauds the specialist, The Huffington Post says Papritz “intrigues and enlightens, charms and catalyzes change for every reader.”

As part of his many innovative and adventurous first-ever book signings, Carew truly lives his book’s central message to “live life to the fullest” while signing books on top of volcanoes and horses. These events and other YouTube videos, such as the “I Love to Read” series and his annual literacy-driven charity event, “The Great Book Balloon Launch,” inspire kids and adults to rediscover the joy of reading!
